Welcome to the Shepway Stragglers web site and the 2010 season. Cricket is already underway with a first well attended net session. Olla Tennant made a comeback from injury; some of the senior players were comparing rates of live weight gain over the winter; the leading run scorer formally retired from net bowling; and there was a fair amount of youthful enthusiasm on show. Let’s hope the wind direction changes in time for the pre-season Drinks Party, the first match at Bossingham (usually noted for snow cover) and to blow the Icelandic ash cloud elsewhere.
The web site will be developed over the next few weeks to allow this page to morph into a Blog, to which contributions will be welcome. Match reports will be posted with links from the Blog and the Fixture page; and in time you will be able to click on matches to see how successful a Match Manager has been in raising a side. The History, Seasonal Highlights and Statistics pages are still in embryo form, and will be expanded over the summer. I hope you will find the web site useful and entertaining, and I would welcome suggestions for its further development.
