Celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the Shepway Stragglers in September 2017 were tinged with sadness, with the passing of Club President shortly after the very well-attended dinner at Shepherd Neame. Peter had a very long association both with the Club and with Wellesley House school. To sustain the very long-standing connection with the school, the Committee decided to present an annual award to the boy or girl at Wellesley House “who most ably and consistently demonstrates a high degree of enthusiasm for cricket and contributes to the spirit of the game”.

We were delighted that the 2018 winner of the Peter Budden Shepway Stragglers Award award was Inigo Pullen, who has turned out for the Stragglers on a few occasions since, and who I am sure we see regularly over the years.

In 2019, we were very pleased to announce at the Straggler game against the BOFs at Wellesley House, that the award would be presented to James Felton. We very much look forward to welcoming James to his first Straggler game.
