Stragglers and The Babes gathered at Torry Hill to find that they were short one component – a pitch. Fortunately the grounds-man was to hand, a pitch prepared in quick time and the sides launched into a furiously high scoring 30 over match. The Stragglers tried a full complement of bowlers to halt the flow of runs from opener Moen. Fourth change Al Smallwood made some inroads into the supporting cast, ending with figures of 4 for 41, and finally Benny Smallwood induced a miscue to capture the key wicket, but only after Moen had reached 122 of 199 scored. Runs then dried up somewhat for the Babes, who finished on 225 for 6.
The Stragglers did not begin well, losing both openers before reaching 20, but that brought Finn Hulbert (104) and Ruaraidh McLeod (84) to the crease. In not many overs the score had raced to 200 and the Stragglers well on target. However, when both fell in quick succession, the Stragglers subsided limply with only another 6 runs coming from the bat, to lose by 11 runs. Nick Healy finished with 5 for 11, as he tidied up the Straggler tail.
