Match Report
A flooded ground following a thunderstorm threatened the Nonington fixture from the outset, but a swift inspection at Wingham found a dry pitch, and when the Straggler opening attack of Bart Forster and Ed Prest had the hosts at 8 for 2 off six overs, all seemed to be going to plan. However, Nonington skipper Jamie Widerstrom, all the way from Wellington, had other ideas, and launched a few sixes to threaten low flying aircraft. Bart held his nerve and knocked over Jamie’s off stump, but the run flow could not now be held back, and Eliot, Theo and the Chairman took a ferocious pounding. Nonington put on 131 for the fourth wicket and were purring along at ten an over, when Patch intervened, knocking over three in four balls. Sadly, just when the tables looked as if they might have turned, the thunder andlightening returned, and the game abandoned.
