A very young side of future Stragglers (the average age of the top nine a mere 15, somewhat increased by numbers 10 and 11) ran into an older and stronger Thanet U17 side, and wilted somewhat in the Broadstairs sun. Max Linington and Charlie Sinclair, batting together for the third wicket, gave substance to the middle overs, and Jamie Lavers tried vainly to marshal the tail, but 149 was never going to be enough. If lacking in firepower, there was no lack of commitment in the field, most notably when keeper Louis Glyn Williams collected a reverse sweep plumb in the box, much to wider amusement. There was general panic in the slip cordon, when the batsman set himself for another attempt.
