Chairman's Blog

On a steamy afternoon at Belmont, and in spite of Patrick Mitchell’s third Straggler century (all of which he has reached with a six!) the Stragglers were well trounced by the Turks, much as the Germans were doing to England’s finest in Bloemfontein. Straggler bowling was modest with the radar not working for many; Will Gow gave a very clear demonstartion of the reasoning behind his return to Straggler cricket as a batsman – 6 long hops despatched in a solitary over; and the very average fielding was summed up with complete lack of parental support at square leg, when the boulanger put down a catch off son George.
