The 2011 season opening fixture at Bossingham fell, unusually, on Easter Sunday, and a particularly glorious Sunday, which brought out the crowds. Not quite reaching three figures, they were boistrously supportive of the debutant Headmaster’s diving catch in the deep, and other athleticsm closer to the bat. They were eventually stunned into silence by the scuttling of Bossingham by the third change pair, both carrying too many years and too many pounds. Pressure had been well applied by the young and fit; wickets were taken by the old and portly.
