Another Sunday, another Straggler walk in the park. For the second time this season, the Stragglers faced a depleted opposition, piled on the runs and then, having given the boys a chance to have a bowl, brought proceedings to an early close. So depleted were the opposition, that a well known local Committee Member, arriving late from duties elsewhere, was invited to field for the opposition. This unexpected enthusiasm for fielding continued after tea, although there were numerous complaints that he was being asked to field in positions with poor internet signal – the demise of Chelsea’s premiership bid seemed to be of concern. Blackberries, both electronic and fruitful, are at risk from collision with a cricket ball.
