Sandwich are always a difficult side to beat, and this year was no different. They batted first, with a top order boosted by their West Indian pro and a couple from the first XI. The Straggler attack never really got on top, although Charlie Munton and Patrick Mitchell bowled well to finish with 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Modest fielding leaked too many runs, and the final score of 273 all out was always going to be a challenging target, even with a short boundary.
Sadly, with the exception of a cavalier half century from Mark Healy, the very talented batting line up subsided with not much more than a whimper, managing only 111 runs in 26 overs, the second collapse in two weeks.
