It is with great sadness that your correspondent has to report the untimely passing of Straggler Roddy Child-Villiers, peacefully at home in Switzerland after a two and a half year fight with cancer. Roddy is remembered as one of the Stragglers finest keepers, and a left handed bat with a dazzling cover drive (when connected). Roddy’s Straggler career began in 1985 and lasted until the end of the century. A regular for the early part of his career his batting figures are 64 innings, 17 not out, 514 runs at an average of 10.94. Also a successful bowler with 13 wickets at a mean average of 19.77, he was a fine keeper, collecting 15 victims, 11 caught behind and 4 stumped.
